Logitech is a Switzerland based manufacturer of keyboards as well as webcams. They are currently in the process of acquiring Plantronics, which is an American maker of gaming headsets and Bluetooth earpieces. The deal would turn out to be the largest acquisition for Logitech till this point in time. This only goes to show that the company intends to get their business diversified. Both the organizations would be willing to keep their manufacturing costs down after the introduction of tariffs on imports from China, right into the United States. One of the sources has come up with the news that Logitech has gone on to make an offering in excess of $2.2 billion for acquiring Plantronics.

If the negotiations that are going on, turn out to be a success, this deal between Plantronics and Logitech can well come up as early as the next week. Still, there is a sense of caution, which prevails to suggest that there could also be a situation where they may not come up with any kind of agreement. The sources asked that their privacy should be maintained as this process of negotiation is completely confidential in nature. Neither of the organizations came up with any immediate responses when they were requested for comments.

The businesses of both Logitech and Plantronics have remained under pressure due to the development of new offerings. It is not only from the makers of network gears like Cisco Systems but also from some of the major technology companies like the owner of Google, Alphabet and Microsoft. Logitech was founded back in the year 1981. They have been trying to counter the fall in the sales of personal computers by putting all their focus on consumer accessories, which are getting benefited from the growth of cloud computing. The company with its base in Lausanne has a market capitalization of $5.6 billion. On the other hand, Plantronics, which is based in California, is in the making of unified communication systems, conferencing systems, wireless headsets, which they sell to consumers and businesses. The company was founded in the year 1961 and their first set of products were lightweight headsets for airplane pilots.
